3          Chairman’s Report

Glynne welcomed members to the meeting.  She felt that this had been a good year with the move to the current venue going smoothly.  The club had won the annual match against Woodbridge and asked for names of those interested in playing for the club this year.  She also asked for support for the holding of a Christmas party and this was agreed.   It has been decided to reintroduce the knockout competition this year.
Bridgemates had been introduced during the last year and Glynne thanked Malcolm for help in training other club directors in the use of that equipment.  She also called for a vote of thanks for the directors (and others) who arrived early and carried all the equipment from the store to the Bridge room
Glynne was saddened by the loss of a number of members during the year but was pleased to welcome some newcomers.
Glynne thanked the committee for their efforts.  Finally, she made a presentation to Sylvia who was standing down from the committee after ten years as secretary.

4.         Treasurer’s report.

Terry wished to highlight three figures: The income (Subs and table money); Hire of room and the EBUs P2P costs.  He pointed out that the table money did not fully cover the room hire and the EBU but the subs. almost balanced all the other running costs.  An average of eight tables per week would see us break even.  The £434 loss for the year was not serious although we would not wish to continue in this vein for too long.  The club did have a very healthy balance which had been built up to cover just this situation.  Terry thanked Ian Burgess for examining the accounts and the members who had collected table money when he was absent..

5.         Membership Secretary’s report.

Iris reported that we have fifty-nine members.  She said that she would continue trying to encourage new members and contacting lapsed members.  It was noted that membership numbers had fallen slightly but this was possibly due to the loss of “Wednesday only” members.  Nothing else to report.

6.         Election of Committee.

There being no new nominations, the current Chairman, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Chief TD and committee were elected en bloc.  Subsequent to the meeting, Malcolm Carey offered his services as Secretary.
