The trophies are awarded to the best lady and the best gentleman player giving allegiance to Essex for the current year, based on cumulative performance in the current year's premier ECBA competitions in accord with the points scale given below. The competition year runs from April 1st to March 31st, though in practice the deadline is the date of the AGM.
