Emsworth Bridge Club plays duplicate bridge every Tuesday evening at the Emsworth Sports & Social Club in Havant Road, Emsworth, Hants.
We are a friendly club with members who simply enjoy playing bridge and offer probably the cheapest evenings bridge in Hampshire.
New members and visitors are always welcome.
The club is a section of the Emsworth Sports & Social Club and duplicate bridge is played in a private room adjacent to the club bar. We usually have about 7 tables playing and we play match pairs. Play starts at 7.00pm and we play 24 boards in 3 hours.
The club runs a host system so that anyone can turn up without a partner and be guaranteed a game. It is quite normal for 2 or 3 players to take advantage of this facility when their regular partner is away. We welcome visitors - as pairs or singly - and there is plenty of room for new members.
The standard of play is typical for the average social bridge club and, whereas we welcome improving pairs, we cannot accomodate absolute beginners. As yet we offer no teaching facilities. There are no restrictions on systems that can be played but most pairs play one of the infinite variations of Acol.
The membership subscription is £8 pa PLUS the membership fee for Emsworth Sports & Social Club, which varies depending on age and whether you are a married couple (for OAPs it's £21 for a couple and £16 for an individual), but there is NO table money for members on the evening. Visitors pay £2.50 per evening.
