At the English Bridge Union we believe that the long term future of bridge in England is dependent on involving young people in the game. We do this through two initiatives which we fund through our Youth and Education Trust registered as a charity number 1121247
Minibridge in Schools
We have made some extraordinary inroads into teaching Minibridge to help youngsters with their maths, logic, team building and interpersonal communications. We have taught teachers and pupils from over 120 schools and we have tremendous support from the All Party Parliamentary Group which encourages the initiative through various schools trips to the Houses of Parliament. We now need to raise more funds to continue this training whilst working with our All Party Parliamentary Group to raise the profile of Minibridge and achieve recognition for this as part of the maths curriculum in our schools.
Junior internationals
Over the past two years we have funded training events for our youth squad members before they attend overseas events. We have also provided a contribution to funding for the English teams which qualified for the university world championships in 2010 and, through many kind donations, funded our Under 20 team when they received a last minute invitationto take part in the World Championships in Philadelphia in 2010. We want to help our young internationals develop into the great English players of the future and we need to raise more funds to help us achieve this.
Thank you for helping us to develop the players of tomorrow.
