Bridge is a trick taking game of skill and chance played by four players who form two partnerships; the partners sit opposite each other at the table.

On lessons you will be paired with another member of the class.

You are of course welcome to join with one or more friends.

IMPROVE YOUR BRIDGE PLAY

WITH INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED LESSONS

Intermediate Course on the first and third Thursdays of each Month 7.30-9.30 pm.

Lessons to be repeated on the following Wednesday 7.30-9.30 pm.

All other Wednesdays and Thursdays 7.30-9.30 pm are Supervised Play.

Thursday 1st November 7.30-9.30 pm I shall be giving a lesson on Red Suit Transfers. Before we use Red Suit Transfers we have difficulties with some bidding. After partner's 1NT opening say we have 5+ Hearts and 10 or less points we do a weak takeout bid of 2H and the stronger hand becomes dummy. Sometimes an extra can be made with the stronger hand being with declarer and hidden from opponents. With 13 or more points we bid 3H or 4H so what do we bid with 5 or 6 Hearts and 11 or 12 points. Is it a weak takeout or a game bid? Before we use red suit transfers we have no weak takeout bid after a 2NT bid as any bid is forcing to game.

This lesson solves all these problems!

Wednesday 7th November lesson same as above.

Thursday 15th November 7.30-9.30 pm I shall be giving a lesson Defence to 1NT "Doubled". Our partner may have few if any points after our 1NT opening bid. If we are Doubled by our opponents we could lose many hundreds of points by going off by several tricks. We must try and wriggle out of this dilemma.

Wednesday 21st November lesson same as above.

Subjects will include Red Suit Transfers, defence to 1NT "Doubled",

Fourth Suit Force, Cue and Splinter bids, Two Suited Overcalls and many more Gadgets.

You will also be taught planning your play to a higher level including Declarer Play and Counting by Declarer.
Also for the Defence there are Count and Attitude signals, Discards to tell Partner Suit Preference
and better play techniques.
With one exception each lesson is on a seperate topic not a continuation of an earlier lesson.

Each lesson is £10.00 and includes tea/coffee and biscuit break.

Any repeat of a previous lesson is £5.00.
