Bridge is a trick taking game of skill and chance played by four players who form two partnerships; the partners sit opposite each other at the table.

On lessons you will be paired with another member of the class.

You are of course welcome to join with one or more friends.

IMPROVE YOUR BRIDGE PLAY

WITH INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED LESSONS

 

Intermediate Course on the first and third Thursdays of each Month 7.30-9.30pm and second and fourth Fridays 2.30-4.30pm.

 

Thursday 20th October 7.30-9.30pm and Friday 28th October 2.30-4.30pm I will be giving an Intermediate lesson on Splinter bids, agreeing partner's suit and showing a singleton or void.

 

Thursday 3rd November 7.30-9.30pm and Friday 11th November 2.30-4.30pm. I will be giving a lesson on Declarer play with the emphasis on not losing to the danger hand.

 

Thursday 17th November 7.30-9.30 pm and Friday 25th November 2.30-4.30 pm I will be giving a lesson on counting by Declarer. You count to discover where the cards that matter are.

 

Thursday 1st December 7.30-9.30 pm and Friday 9th 2.30-4.30 pm December I will be giving a lesson Declarer play (2). Discovery hands, the ruffing finesse and loser on loser.

 

Thursday 15th December 7.30-9.30 pm and Friday 13th January 2017 2.30-4.30 pm I will be giving a lesson on Protective bidding. Bidding in the pass out seat.

 

 

 

Subjects will include Red Suit Transfers, defence to 1NT "Doubled",

Fourth Suit Force, Cue and Splinter bids, Two Suited Overcalls and many more Gadgets.

 

You will also be taught planning your play to a higher level including Declarer Play and Counting by Declarer.
Also for the Defence there are Count and Attitude signals, Discards to tell Partner Suit Preference
and better play techniques.
With one exception each lesson is on a seperate topic not a continuation of an earlier lesson.
 

Each lesson is £10.00 and includes tea/coffee and biscuit break.

A 32 lesson course for

absolute beginners and those

who have not played cards before

will start Tuesday evenings

25th October 2016 7.30-9.30 pm.

 

This course will prepare you to be able to play in one of the many local bridge clubs.

SUPERVISED BRIDGE PLAY

 

 

THURSDAYS 7.30-9.30pm except 1st and 3rd Thurs of the Month when an Intermediate lesson will be given.

FRIDAYS 2.30-4.30pm except 2nd and 4th Fri of the Month when an Intermediate lesson will be given.

 

Interesting hands are made up in advance to practise both bidding and play. Suggestions on how the bidding and play could have gone are given after each hand has been played.

 

These sessions should be useful practise for all who have been taught or played bridge for 6 months or more. Hands will range from bidding games and slams to pre-emptive bids and overcalling opponents bidding.
