Corn Cairdis 2018 in the Eastern Region!

The Corn Cairdis friendly competition between England and Ireland, hosted this year by the Eastern Region finished with a narrow victory for our visitors. The weekend started with a social game in the competition venue Dún Laoghaire Bridge Club. On Saturday morning the visitors were welcomed by our President Freda Griffin and the Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown, Tom Murphy, in the National Maritime Museum with a tour of the museum by our Vice President Padraic O'Brolchain. After lunch serious business started in Dún Laoghaire where the Irish team took a strong lead.

All enjoyed a Gala Banquet in the National Yacht Club on Saturday night. On Sunday the English team continued chipping at the Irish lead and were well ahead by the afternoon. A strong fight back closed the gap but our visitors took the cup with a 3 point victory. Well done to all! A very enjoyable weekend of good bridge and good company in a Dún Laoghaire looking wonderful in the sunshine!
