Slow Play

At the last committee meeting, the committee discussed the question of slow play. They noted the perhaps understandable reluctance of many directors to use the timer and felt it would be appropriate to give them guidance as to how to handle slow play.

The committee believe that, notwithstanding possible disputes as to how such situations have arisen, any table which has not commenced playing its last board when the move is called should forfeit that board.

Please, be aware that the directors have been asked to adhere to this ruling and give them the support and cooperation they need to make sure that the evening is an enjoyable experience for everyone.

EASTBOURNE BRIDGE CLUB

The monthly League competition had Rob Cutler and David Worthington as top scorers for the afternoon session and for the evening session Mike Fitzgerald/Amanda Bolton and Pauline & Alan Chamberlain shared top score.   The winners of the Pairs Competition for the Callow Cup were Pyers Pennant and Jeanne Boydell and they will receive the prize on 30th June at the AGM.

Barry James is retiring as Maintenance Rep. and a suitable volunteer is needed to provide continuity.    This is an essential role which must be filled.

As well as organising bridge for experienced players, the club also caters for beginners.   Throughout the year on Thursday afternoons Chimi Notenboom offers a form of supervised practice and John Garrini devotes Monday evening and Friday afternoons to those who wish to play away from highly competitive conditions.

Visitors and new members are always welcome at the Club which is one of the largest in Sussex and operates six days a week.    The club’s premises are in the RAFA Building at

Wish Road
and comprise two large modern comfortable rooms.    Duplicate Bridge is played during afternoons at 2 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and also during the evenings of Monday to Friday..   If you wish to play please arrive 15 minutes before the start time if you need a partner please contact Mrs Ann Hall (Tel 724723).
