Partners

If you are seeking a partner(s) for pairs or teams either contact Alex Buchan (see Contact Us) or post a message on the 'Bookings/Find a Partner?'  page.

On Wednesday afternoon and evening  a host system is in operation, so you can turn up without a partner and get a game.

Welcome to Eastbourne Bridge Club
About Us

We welcome visitors and we have club members willing to help with finding partners, see the Join Us page. We run events to suit every level of player, and as we are an EBU club, Master Points are awarded at every event. On most Wednesday evenings and afternoons the club operates a hosting system so anyone is guaranteed a game, for other times see the Partners box on this page. The Calendar shows the host's name. Our popular Swiss Pairs are on the second and fourth Friday at 7.00 pm. Whilst our popular Random Teams operates on the 2nd Tuesday evening at 7.30. We run lessons for beginners and improvers, which have proved to be very popular - see the Lessons page. Because we can provide pre-dealt hands, the learning is mainly through playing.

We have a large membership and at least seven duplicate sessions each week. For details see our Calendar. By number of players playing, we were ranked number 1 in Sussex and number 17 nationally in 2017 by the EBU.

The Calendar gives the current program of events and start times. Please help us by arriving at least ten minutes before the start of play, since we use ScoreBridge and Bridgemates to record the scores and this has to be programmed with the movement before the start. Once this is started, it is difficult to amend. This computer based scoring enables us to provide results within minutes of the close of play.

The Club Etiquette is in the Best Behaviour section. Eastbourne Bridge Club Etiquette and Procedure.pdf

Our Location

We have two large comfortable air conditioned rooms that are set up for bridge. The Club is located on the first floor of the Royal Air Forces Association, 11 Wish Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4NX, see the map below for details.  A chair lift is available for those who need it. If using a satnav, check that you have 11 Wish Road.

If you have played in the SIM pairs on Monday Afternoon, you cannot play them again at a different venue. Hands and results will be available at midnight on Wednesday.

The next Mini Swiss pairs is on Friday 23rd February at 7.00 pm and the next Random Teams is on Tuesday 13th March at 7.30 pm. Please sign up in the club for these events (just first names may not be enough unless yours is unique).

The Thursday supervised play session  is open to players with less than 200 pointsThis session is intended for players who are new to the game and are learning, so that help is available. The Friday supervised play session is open to all players, and again help is available and no master points are awarded.  No partner is needed for any of these sessions or the Tuesday Afternoon Simple Systems Session, which only allows a basic system.

♣  See the Links page for Vu-Bridge Hand of the Week and Beginner's Corner. You can play the hands - they are interactive.

Contact the Club

The best way to contact the club is via the Contact Us page and choose the appropriate person. For lessons contact the person running the lessons directly or Stuart Barker.

To contact individual members of the committee go to the 'Committee & Officers' page under the Information menu.

The club telephone (01323 645876)  is often on answerphone, and messages may not get answered, so it should not be used for general enquiries.
