Club Times/Details

A warm welcome to Durham Bridge Club.
We are a friendly club that meets on a regular basis to play duplicate bridge,
usually pairs, but occasionally teams.
Visiting pairs are always welcome to any session.
The club meets at Framwellgate Moor Youth & Community Centre, Front Street, Framwellgate Moor, Durham, DH1 5BL.

GENERAL

  • Tuesday evenings at 7:00 - 10:00pm: Standard 'level 4' conventions are permitted. The overall 'NGS' rating of players is about 53 (above average). Teams may be played the Tuesday before an inter-club Sunday.

  • Tuesday Afternoons from 1:00 - 4:00pm:  This session is popular with players with less experience, but all are welcome.

  • Monday evenings at 6.30 - 9.30 pm: a supervised session  - ideal for novices wanting instruction in a 'real-life' environment or for players new to duplicate bridge.

  • Please ensure that you are seated at least 10 minutes before play is due to start.

  • Results of each Tuesday session are available immediately all hands have been played - and usually there are printed hand records.

  • Want to learn to play? The club usually runs a structured training course in the autumn.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Durham Bridge Club moves to a subscription model whereby members pay an Annual Subscription Fee of £156, payable as £13 per month.
Junior members (those aged under 26 on the 1 st of January in the subscription year) will be charged £60 as the annual subscription fee, payable as £5 per month.
Every member is entitled to play at every session when the club is open and there is no table money for members.

The Subscription year runs for 12 months from May 1st in each calendar year.
This payment principle replaces the concept of ‘table money’ for members with the annual Subscription Fee of £156.
Could we please ask that all members modify their Standing Order to £13 per month (or, if a
junior, £5 per month) with effect from the May 2023 payment

Please note:
1. the Club welcomes all players, and hopes that everyone will become a member;
2. members will not pay any table money;
3. non-members are most welcome and will pay table money of £5 per session, and if a junior non-member the table money is £2 per person per session;
4. we ask that non-members make their payments by some non-cash means, Standing Order or BACS;
5. players become EBU members by joining an affiliated Club, or by joining the EBU as ‘direct members’, and hence all Durham Club members automatically become EBU members;
6. the rules of the NEBA Inter Club Competition only allows members to represent their Club;

New Members will be registered with the EBU automatically unless they request otherwise.
Membership of the EBU is free and benefits include a bi-monthly online magazine elegibility to play in EBU tournaments and an official grading scheme.
