Using Bidding Boxes

Making a Call

Players place their selected call in front of them, with every call in the sequence visible.

When is a Call Deemed to be Made?

When the bidding card is removed form the bidding box.   Players should decide the call they are going to make before touching any card.

Correction of a Call

However, a call may be changed without penalty if it is inadvertent i.e. the player takes out the wrong card, realises the error and changes it to the call he/she intended to make.

STOP and ALERT Cards

The STOP card should be placed on the table before any JUMP bid and stay there for about 10 seconds.  The next player may not call until it is removed.

When the ALERT card is required, it should be taken from the box and shown to both opponents (making sure that it has been seen by both) before being replaced in the box.

At the End of the Auction

The bidding cards should remain on the table until the opening lead has been made face down and any explanations have been obtained, after shich they should be returned to their boxes.
