Bridge Tips

When defending remember that your lead indicates to your partner what other cards you hold in the suit you have chosen. If your card is not top of a sequence then

low=like or high= hate

where 2,3 and 4 are low and 7,8 and 9 are high

On the other side of the table if your partner is on lead your 'attitude' is expressed by the card you play

high= aye or low= loathe

'The Devon School of Bridge'

The Devon School of Bridge is a private club dedicated to providing an efficient learning resource for all those who wish to learn or improve their ability playing the fascinating game of Bridge.The principal teacher is Mike Gregory and courses are offered to all levels of ability from Absolute Beginners and Improvers levels 1, 2 and 3 through to supervised play and advanced Workshops for more experienced players.

The Devon School of Bridge Club is a very friendly Duplicate Bridge Club which meets every Friday afternoon, play commences promptly at 1.30.

We welcome all members and visitors regardless of ability or ranking and you do not need to come with a partner as we operate a host system.

What a wonderful week!

Huge congratulations to Adam 7 Scylla who easily won this week with a tremendous score over 60%. They both now have 42 Master Points and are well on their way to becoming 'Masters'

and a massive 'Well Done' to Daphne who is the first winner of our new Singles Competition and is also top of our Master Points board. Well done to Pam who was second and Edwin third.

SUPERVISED PLAY FRIDAY MORNINGS

There will be Practice Play every Friday morning at 10.00 until further notice, please do drop in to play and discuss fascinating hands from previous sessions.

Please do bring along any difficult or interesting hands you have encountered recently

Thursdays

At the moment Thursday morning is free so please let me know if there are short courses you might be interested in attending.

For instance 3 weeks on Benji/ 2 weeks on Doubles/ 2 weeks on overcalls and competitive bidding/ 2 weeks on defence
