St Audries Weekend

16 friends accompanied Karen and I to St Audries for a very lively fun weekend of bridge, walking and just enjoying each other's company. We were joined by a fellow teacher, Steve Clifton on Saturday and Steve added to the bonhommie and friendliness of the whole weekend .

We played a teams match on Friday evening, consisting of 3 x 7 board matches. The winners were Sue, Martin, Heather and Pam who were awarded the first prize of 4 bottles of wine.

On Saturday evening we played Duplicate Pairs over 21 boards and the winners were Sue and Martin who won the first prize of a weekend's Bed and Breakfast for 2.

On Sunday afternoon we played another set of 21 hands and the results are shown in the 'Results' column on the left hand menu.

Several of us enjoyed a gorgeous walk in the spring sunshine of about 3 miles along a cliff path and then through the historic village of East Quantoxhead finishing with a cup of tea sat outside at a rather quirky tea room. The sunshine was fabulous, the evening sunsets distracted several folks from their bridge (at least that was the excuse they gave) and we eventually departed about 5.00pm on Sunday

The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere superb and St Audries has never looked better. I have already had many requests for a repeat visit and this will be organised in a few days. Details will be circulated in due course and will appear on this site.

'The Devon School of Bridge'

The Devon School of Bridge is a private club dedicated to providing an efficient learning resource for all those who wish to learn or improve their ability playing the fascinating game of Bridge. The principal teacher is Mike Gregory and courses are offered to all levels of ability from Absolute Beginners and Improvers levels 1, 2 and 3 through to supervised play and advanced Workshops for more experienced players.

The Devon School of Bridge Club is a very friendly Duplicate Bridge Club which meets every Friday afternoon, play commences promptly at 1.30.

We welcome all members and visitors regardless of ability or ranking and you do not need to come with a partner as we operate a host system.

Friday Afternoon Results

The scores for Friday 22nd are missing Board 21 which has been entered as 'passed out' for now. When I next go to the Ruffwell I will retrieve the traveller and amend the scores. In the interim a provisional WELL DONE to Bob and Inga who were first with 58%

One board can make up to 4% difference so this might change a bit.

David and Pam were joint second with Tracey and Edwin and so in theory either of these pairs could leap to first place when I amend board 21.
