Bridge Tips

When defending remember that your lead indicates to your partner what other cards you hold in the suit you have chosen. If your card is not top of a sequence then

low=like or high= hate

where 2,3 and 4 are low and 7,8 and 9 are high

On the other side of the table if your partner is on lead your 'attitude' is expressed by the card you play

high= aye or low= loathe

Friday Afternoon Results

I am very grateful to Pam Hay for pointing out two errors in the scoring this week.

I have now carefuly checked every traveller and corrected 7 errors where the incorrect pair numbers were entered and unfortunatley in my haste yesterday I just copied the scores from the travellers into the computer.

I am very sorry for the confusion and the new results are shown on the results page.

This week's stars are Pam & Nick with 63.19% and Audrey & Trevor with 65.48%.

We warmly invite visitors and new members to come and try our splendid facilities and to join us in creating'The friendliest Bridge Club in Devon', membership is free until 1st September.

Our first session was well received with 12 people attending and some lively interactive discussion throughout kept me on my toes.

Thanks for the enthusiastic response and this session will now continue for the forseeable future or until  you all become so good that it isn't necessary.

I am away on the 25th July and Edwin will direct the afternoon session but there will be no practice play in the morning.
