  DUPLICATE BRIDGE ETIQUETTE

MANNERS ARE IMPORTANT
Acknowledge your opponents at the beginning of the round and smile!
Compliment your opponents/partner on the play or bidding of hands.
When a hand is over, be gracious. Please don’t view the Bridgepad and boast or lament about where you are in the standings on that board.
When calling a director, remember to say "director please" and "thank-you".
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE
Move to your new table assignment when the director calls the round over.
Use your extra time at the end of the hand to take a break or visit.
Once the auction is complete, make your opening lead and table the dummy before you write the contract in your private score.
THINK BEFORE YOU TOUCH and KEEP the TEMPO
During the auction, use your time wisely. Preplan your bid and then choose the bid from the box. Don’t let your fingers do your thinking!
If a stop card was used, or a jump bid has occurred, the next bidder has an extra 10 seconds to think about their next bid.
SILENCE IS GOLDEN
Conversation stops when you remove your hand from the board.
Wait to discuss the current boards until the end of the round.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CURRENT ROUND…STAYS IN THE CURRENT ROUND
Announce contracts quietly.
Announce tricks taken/score quietly.
If you choose to do so, quietly discuss a hand from the current round once all boards have been played and it is not time to move.
Refrain from discussion between hands.
Hands from previous rounds should never be discussed in front of the new opponents.
Refrain from asking other teams if they have played a board.
