REPORT ON THE NORTHERN BRIDGE LEAGUE 2016 SEASON
This is certainly not my forte having to give a brief resume on the performance of both the “B” & “C” Teams that represented the County in the 2016 Northern Bridge League. Sadly, for the “B” Team it is what could have been, having held such a strong position in the League throughout the season, we went into the final session in pole position and with the hounds hard on our heels you certainly have to have the team firing on all cylinders; alas this was not the case and our usual bête noire (Manchester) pipped us at the finishing post, and once again we had to be content in second position.
I know it is always dangerous singling out individuals, but I would like to congratulate John MacLachlan, Robin Rose, Adam Aitken & his partner for an excellent performance on the day which was reflected in their Butler Scores, but equally to congratulate them for being so consistent throughout the League this year.
The “C” Team seemed to have a little bit of an indifferent season, but I think this is partly down to my selection process, I decided to try and give as many people as possible a game in this League rather than concentrate on a settled team, the feed-back that I did receive, seemed very positive and that all who participated in this League enjoyed themselves and are already looking forward to next year. Finishing sixth in the league was certainly not derisory and I am certain next will see a great improvement.
To conclude, it is the participating that is the most important aspect of any game and I understand to win would be very nice; I would like to personally thank ALL those players who made themselves available throughout the season and for making my life and the selection of the teams and a little bit easier, I would like to think that more of our regular and established players would make themselves available for future events.
