• IN A NUTSHELL...
What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.
What's the risk of coronavirus in the UK? The UK Chief Medical Officers have raised the risk to the public from low to moderate.
Health professionals are working to contact anyone who has been in close contact with people who have coronavirus.
What are the symptoms?
• a cough
• a high temperature
• shortness of breath
But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.
The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.
How is it spread? Because it's a new illness, it's not know exactly how coronavirus spreads from person to person.
Similar viruses are spread in cough droplets.
It's very unlikely it can be spread through things like packages or food. Viruses like coronavirus cannot live outside the body for very long.
What to do if you need medical help in relation to coronavirus NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do.
Use this service if:
• you think you might have coronavirus • you've recently been to a country or area with a high risk of coronavirus –you've been in close contact with someone with coronavirus
Precautions taken at Bridge Club to prevent the Spread of COVID-19
Anyone entering any of our events will be asked to wash their hands before they fully enter the building
Hand washing regularly will be encouraged
Players will be asked not to make contact with other players
After each round players will be encouraged to wash their hands before doing anything else – hand gel will be offered if and when we can get some
Players will be encouraged not to touch their faces, or put cards near face during rounds
Anyone who is not well will be asked not to attend, or if any member of the CCF Team feel someone is not well enough to be there they have the right to send them home
Players will be encouraged to bring their own writing implement and not share
We will do our best to spread tables out so that players are not on top of each other, but in very large events this may not be possible
Catch It – Bin It – Kill It
We will encourage anyone coughing sneezing to catch in a tissue
Players are encouraged to bring their own water bottles / cutlery / reusable mugs
This is a working progress document and things may change as and when more information is received
