The AGM took place in a relaxed atmosphere Tue 22nd May. The meeting was opened by Hon Sec Sheila O'Mahony. All the officer reports were precise and duly proposed and seconded. No motions were submitted. Under AOB Maura Colgan requested that the numbers in each grade be made available on the club website.
Maureen Grady (Treasurer), Maura Colgan (Committee) and Joan Cahill (Matchmaker) take a well earned rest after sterling service to the club. Paddy Cooney takes over as Treasurer and Rosemary Kennedy is a new committee member. Bernie Fagan will be the new Matchmaker. Peter Doyle is our new Vice President.
Special thanks was conveyed by the membership to our outgoing President Brigid on her outstanding year at the helm, the highlight being the 40th Anniversary Celebrations. It was a superbly organised occasion. Thanks also to John Macnamara for his excellent 40 year résumé of CBC.
John Crimmins was highly complimented on his efficient directorship of our major competitions.
All who made any contribution to the smooth running of the club were thanked by Brigid. The meeting closed and members returned to the primary function ie. trying to play bridge.
We all wish President Graham a happy and successfull reign.
Graham wishes to add the following personal tribute to Brigid.
"Congratulations to Brigid on a wonderful year. I hope that with all your support we make next year just as good"
This historic occasion was commemorated on Tue 24th April. A sumptuous buffet supper was accompanied by a champagne toast to all past and present menbers of CBC. Congratulations to President Brigid and her committee for the splendid organisation of this event.Thanks to former Presidents (no longer members) who came from far and near to grace us with their prescence.
