| TO CLOSE TO CALL IN SIMS PAIRS - OR IS IT? |
Dead heat for 1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th - but it is different story nationwide... DEAD heats are rare enough, but it is almost unheard of to see a leader board with the top two pairs sharing the spoils AND the third and fourth pairs also finishing on the same percentage. But that was the outcome of the Sims Pairs on Monday night when David and Jenny tied for first place with Andrew and Rosemarie while Derek and Robert also dead heated with Margaret and Elizabeth for third place. However, when their scores were compared to others around the country it was a different story...as you can see at www.ecatsbridge.com |

David and Andrew win Seniors for fourth time in five years THE remarkable winning streak enjoyed by David Price and Andrew Moore in the Suffolk Seniors pairs continued when the Clare duo won the event for the fourth time in five years on Wednesday. The only year they missed out - 2008 - the competition was won by Jenny Price and Jane Moore! This year's renewal attracted 30 pairs but the winners finished more than five per cent ahead of their nearest rivals. Jenny and Jane were sixth while other Clare combinations who finished in the top half of the field were Adele Wayman and Jan Havard-Davies (9th), Derek Phillips and Robert Hume (=11th), Richard Evans and George Moody (=11th). For a full breakdown of the results go to the Suffolk bridge website at http://www.suffolkbridge.co.uk/ |

Can you help solve the mystery of the President's missing trophy? IN 2009 the President's Trophy was won by a team headed by...the club President. Unfortunately, the prized trophy, pictured right in the hands of Basil Ambrose at last year's annual meeting and prizegiving, has been temporarily mislaid. Nick Farr, the club chairman, explained: "I am trying to track down the President’s trophy as currently its whereabouts are unknown. The last recorded winner appears to be Basil Ambrose & Team but Basil hasn’t got the trophy. If anyone knows where the trophy is can they please let me know asap." |

| BRIDGE AND GOLF MATCH AGAINST BURY THIS AUTUMN |
BRIDGE AND GOLF MATCH AGAINST BURY ON SEPT 8 A date has been set for the first bridge-golf match against Bury St Edmunds bridge club - September 8. Eight a side teams will play 18 holes of golf at Bury golf course in the morning, followed by lunch and 18 boards of bridge in the afternoon. Nick is working on a scoring system but it could follow the example set by the Buffett Cup, which is played at the same time as the Ryder Cup between bridge teams from Europe and the US. A point a board is equivalent to winning - or losing - a hole at golf. If you are interested in playing, please speak to Nick or Richard. |
