- The Club shall be called 'The City Bridge Club’.
- The primary aim of the club shall be the provision of facilities for its members to play the game of Contract Bridge.
- The Club HQ shall be at the Eastern Community Centre, Padholme Road, Peterborough.
- The club's financial year shall be from 1 October to 30 September.
- There shall be an Annual General meeting of the club held during October each year, to receive reports and to elect officers, committee members and to consider matters on the Agenda. Any member may place items for discussion on the Agenda by specifying the item and posting details on the club notice board at least 21 days prior the AGM. Each item so specified shall require the signature of a second member. An auditor shall also be appointed, who shall not be a member of the committee.
- The officers of the club shall be Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. These, together with three further committee members shall form the club committee which shall have responsibility for day to day running of the club, and shall have authority to deal with any matter not provided for in this Constitution.
- The subscription and charge for taking part at meetings (Table Money) shall be recommended by the Committee and ratified by the AGM.
- Members may introduce guests, subject to space availability. Each guest may not attend more than three events in any financial year, unless the Committee so authorises.
- Prospective members shall require a proposer and a seconder and shall play thrice as a visitor. Membership shall be considered by the Committee who shall have regard to the standard of play of the applicant.
- The number of members permitted shall be decided by the Committee, having regard to the available facilities.
- Any dispute shall be referred to the Committee, whose decision shall be final.
- In the event of misconduct by a member, certified by any six members, the Committee is empowered to consider the complaint and if substantiated, to censure the offending member, suspend him/her, or to request resignation. If a request for resignation is not acted upon within two weeks, a Special General Meeting may be called to consider expulsion.
- A Special General Meeting may be convened at any time by six members giving at least 14 day notice in writing to the Secretary.
- The Committee shall be empowered to nominate as Honorary Life Members those members who it regards as especially worthy. Such Honorary Life members shall have all the rights and privileges of a club member, but shall pay no Annual Subscription.
- Members who become over one year in arrears with their Annual Subscription shall be deemed to have caused their membership to lapse.
- Should the Club cease to exist for any reason, all moneys and assets shall be distributed to the paid-up members in equal shares.
- This Constitution may be amended by a simple majority at an Annual or Special General meeting. Notice of proposed change shall be given in accordance with paragraph 5.
