Welcome to our site for those wishing to learn how to play bridge or improve their game as beginners/improvers.
The Cheltenham Bridge Club has a staged process whereby you can start with Bridge Lessons, practise at our beginner's practice sessions on Thursday afternoon and then move on and play the game at our ‘Gentle Bridge’ sessions. When you feel you are ready you can join in the club’s full programme of activities in the afternoons and evenings Monday to Saturday.
You can join any of the training and improvement sessions according to your level of ability/experience and a standby Partner will be available, if needed.
All stages are run on a friendly and relaxed basis and will enable you to quickly make new friends and develop a bridge partnership of your own.

| Learners 1 Bridge Lessons |
In October Cheltenham Bridge Club will be starting new 20 week beginners courses split into 2 terms of 10 lessons.
The courses, one in the day and one in the evening, have proved extremely popular so early registration is advised. Details:
Tuesday mornings 10:00-12:00 starting on 4th October
Thursday evenings 19:00-21:00 starting on 6th October
Learn bridge in a weekend on 19-20th November - see further details under Learn to Play.

| Learners 2 Bridge Lessons |
In October Cheltenham Bridge Club will be starting new 10 week improvers courses aimed at those who have completed a Learners 1 course and wish to improve their bridge. Details:
Wednesday afternoons 16:00-18:00 starting on 5th October
Wednesday evenings 19:00-21:00 starting on 5th October

| Lesley's Daytime Lessons |
These lessons will resume on Friday 16th September 10:00-12:00.
Lessons will cost £5 and are designed for experienced club players who would like to further improve.
The topics covered will be:-
16th September - Declarer Play No trump contract - by length
23rd September - Declarer Play No trump contract - by position
30th September - Declarer Play No trump contract - by force
7th October - Declarer Play Suit contract - Drawing trumps
14th October - Defence - Leads
21st October - Defence - Signals and discard
28th October - Defence - Suit preference
4th November- Defence - Competitive bidding - Overcalling & UCB
11th November- Defence - Competitive bidding - Michaels
18th November- Defence - Competitive bidding - Unusual 2NT

| Consolidation Lessons with 'Deal and Play' practice |
Starting on Wednesday 5th October costing £5, these sessions are designed for players who have completed the two year course (or have equivalent bridge playing experience) and would like to further develop their bidding and playing. These sessions will consolidate what has been learnt, provide opportunities to learn more and provide time to deal and play practice hands - all under the guidance of an experienced teacher.
Two sessions are offered:
Every Wednesday Morning 10-12 starting October 5th with Jenny Clifford. These classes will cover subjects as requested by the students.
Alternate Wednesday Evenings 7-9pm (1st, 3rd, 5th weds of each month) starting October 5th with Mark Rogers. Players are encouraged to attend Gentle Bridge on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays! These classes will cover aspects of the 1NT bid such as transfers, playing and defending.
You do not have to sign up for the lessons, just pay as you attend.

| Beginners Play Sessions |
These sessions are suitable for those who have completed their beginners and/or improvers course. Turn up with or without a partner and play some hands with help available in a non competive environment. The sessions are on Thursday afternoons starting at 14:00.
