VISITORS

Visitors are welcome at Brentham Bridge Club. If you do not have a partner - no problem - we operate a Host system so you will be guaranteed a game. 

Come and play duplicate bridge on Wednesday evening (19.25 start ) or 'relaxed' duplicate bridge on Friday morning (9:45 start) - click on the Information button (top left hnd menu) for further details.

INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION

     The Brentham Bridge Club is part of the Social Section of Brentham Club, the long established Sports Club on the Brentham estate.  This was one of the first English Garden Suburbs, situated on the north side of Pitshanger Lane, Ealing. Other sections of the club include cricket, football, tennis, snooker and bowls. Further details can be found at www.brenthamclub.co.uk/.  Members also have access to the well-appointed bar.

 

The Bridge Club is affiliated to the EBU and the Middlesex County Bridge Association .

 

Using pre-dealt hands, we play on Wednesday evenings (19:25 start). A relaxed session is held on Friday mornings (9:45 start). 

We play both sessions in the main hall which has disabled facilities and air-conditioning.

BRENTHAM BRIDGE CLUB - WEDNESDAY EVENING BRIDGE

The Wednesday evening bridge is very popular with players. We are a friendly and welcoming club for players of all standards. 

If you do not have a partner, we have a host so you will be guaranteed a game.

For the competitive amongst us, there are 7 competitions run throughout the year and we also participate in the EBU Simultaneous Pairs.

Bridgemates and computer scoring are used and the results are posted promptly onto our website. Master points are awarded.

Play starts at 7.25 p.m. Please be seated by 7.15 p.m.

 

 
BRENTHAM BRIDGE CLUB - FRIDAY RELAXED BRIDGE
Our Friday morning bridge session is played in a relaxed and friendly manner. Players of all standards are welcome . If you do not have a partner, we have a host so you will be guaranteed a game.
 
There is a 10 minute coffee break half way through the morning. The Brentham Cafe provides teas, coffees, snacks and cakes.
 

Bridgemates and computer scoring are used showing instant results which are posted onto our website. Master points are awarded.

Start time 9:45 a.m. Please be seated by 9:35 a.m.

 
NATIONAL GRADING SCHEME

The EBU has launched the National Grading Scheme. Details can be accessed from the EBU website, using the NGS Info tab. Clicking on this will bring up a page showing your grade, and the grades of your regular partners. Your grade is based on your individual performances since P2P was introduced. The grade is a playing card, running from a 2 (lowest) to an Ace, which is subdivided into the 4 suits.

2016 BBL AUTUMN SIMS - RESULTS

Congratulations to the Brentham Bridge Club top pairs in the British Autumn Sims.

Locally the top pairs are:

1st East/West  Paul Stevens and Gudmundur Audunsson 63.95%

1st North/South  Vernon Hartley and Mike Kaufmann 60.12%

Nationally as at 10th October 2016 the results from 60 Clubs (1001 pairs) have been received. Top Brentham positions are:

24th      Paul Stevens and Gudmundur Audusson 63.54%

43rd       Vernon Hartly and Mike Kaufmann 62.07%

130th     Lynne Thomas and Peter Garvin   57.89%

2016 JOAN AND ROGER WRIGHT MIXED PAIRS CUP

The 2016 Mixed Pairs Cup was won by

Liz Stevens and Mike Kaufmann (64.26%) many congratulations.

Second were  Eli and John Marks (59.50%)

Third were  Inge and David Veecock (58.06%)

2016 GRIMSHAW CUP

Many congratulations to Sheila Barnes and David Benjamin who were run away winners of the 2016 Grimshaw Cup  (66.25%), 5.8% ahead of the field.

Second were Vernon Hartley and Mike Kaufmann (60.45%).

Closely followed by Joan Ainsworth and Sally Young (60.00%).

 
2016 OPEN PAIRS CUP

This seems to be the season for very close finishes in the Cup competitions.

Many congratualtions to the winners: Gudmundur Audunsson + Wiktor Staniaszek (64.55%)

A close second were: Ken Butcher + Mike Richings (64.09%)

Third were: Vernon Hartley + Mike Kaufmann (60.91%)
2016 ALI MEGHANI CUP

Many congratualtions to Vernon Hartley and Mike Kaufmann on winning the 2016 Ali Meghani Cup with an impressive score of 68.18%.

Second were Joan Ainsworth and Sally Young with 65.53%

Third were Derek Russell and Paul Stevens with 60.42%.

 
SHEILA BARNES CUP - RANDOM TEAMS 2016

12 teams took part in this year's competition. The winning team was:

John and Eli Marks, Clive Harrison and David Perridge

with an excellent score of 54 IMPs.

Many congratulations to the winners.

Further congratulations should go to John and Eli who have been

members of the winning team for 2 years on the bounce.
HOSTING AND DIRECTING

Many thanks to all those who volunteer to host or director for the Wednesday and Friday sessions.

The host does not pay to play on that day.

If the host does not play their next visit is free.

The Director does not pay, however their partner is required to pay.
HAMMERSMITH AND DISTRICT LEAGUE
Brentham Bridge Club finished equal 3rd in the League for 2015/16 winning 4 out of the 6 matches played. Many thanks for the valient efforts of Moira (Captain), Liz S, Mike R & Ken, and Mike K and Vernon.
 
If you are interested in playing for Brentham Bridge Club in the Hammersmith and District League speak to Moira Simpkin. Matches are local and are played in peoples homes in a friendly environment. It is a gentle introduction to the world of match play bridge.
