Highlands, NC is a small town on a 4,000 foot plateau in the southern Blue Ridge Mountains. It is approximately 2 hours north of Atlanta GA and about 1.5 hours south of Asheville, NC. From a winter population of around 2,500, the town swells to about 25,000 in the summer due to its reputation as summer camp for adults. Duplicate bridge has been part of the town for over twenty years. Sanctioned games are held Wednesday and Friday afternoons throughout the year. And novice/intermediate games are scheduled June-October on Wednesday and Friday mornings. This N/I Schedule will be available at the beginning of spring, 2016. Check the website for news.

| HDBC BOARD OF ADVISORS AND ANNUAL/GAME FEES |
Our Board of Advisors is listed below should you have any questions, suggestions, or comments: Puddin Bornheim, President; Monika Howard, Vice-President; David LaCagnina, Secretary; Delores Bode, Treasurer; Len Perkins, Tournament Chair; and Club Co- Managers Cecil Hines and Brenda Manning. The annual meeting is in June of each year.
Highlands Duplicate Bridge Club (HDBC) year is January through December 31st. Cost of each game is $5 for HDBC members and $7 for guests, beginning January 1st, 2016; Special Games, which provide increased masterpoints for winners, are the same fee as of November 1st, 2013: $5 for HDBC members and $7 for guests. New Memberships and Renewal Memberships are the same, i.e., $20 for the year (January 1 - December 31). ACBL-sanctioned games are held on Wednesday and Friday afternoons beginning at 1:00 pm at the Highlands Recreation Center on the north side of US 64, two blocks east of Main Street all year - January-December. We do not take reservations but players should be there before 12:30 in the summer and at least fifteen minutes before 1:00 in the winter. We are a zero-tolerance club and have non-playing paid directors in the summer months. In the winter, directors play and direct at their option. Coffee is available in the game room. No food at our games.Our games are usually over by 4:30 pm.

After the last round is entered and verified, a quick recap (percentage) of standing may be obtained by pressing the button under the word Rank on the BridgeMate, which is the second button from the left at top of BridgeMates. Percentage will appear. To obtain an individual analysis of each board by pairs, follow prompts on BridgeMates to view how many points were received per board. The percentage of last opponents will also appear. If others are still playing, results will not be final until all tables complete play, but current percentages are available.

Friday morning 299er Game resumed 2016 Season on Friday, June 3rd. Please be seated by 8:50; Game at 9.
*For those joining HDBC for the first time or paying 2016 dues, note DUES are $20 per person.
*Game Fees are $5 - including Special Games, for HDBC members; guests pay $7 per game.
*Schedule: 299er Bridge Classes at 8:20; Seated at 8:50; Game at 9.
*All invited to summer classes, even if not a 299er or do not plan to play.
*Classes held in the same room as the game, at Highlands Civic (Rec) Center (600 North Fourth Street) 8:20 - 8:50.
*Bridge classes continue June 17th through September 30th, provided attendance is sufficient.
*Special Games provide more masterpoints, such as Fund Games, STaC games, North American Pairs.
*299er Games directed and classes taught by Brenda Manning - Topics at request of 299er players.
*Topics planned so far are Revaluing Hands After Bidding Begins, Protecting and Supporting Light Openers in 3rd and 4th Seats;
