Summary - Competitions
The "Butler Pairs" Championship for the Jacobs Shield:  Held on the second Wednesday of each month (first Wednesday in December) from September 2013 to April 2014. The JacobsShield is awarded to the pair with the best 4 out of 8 scores.  This competition will be scored by Cross-IMPS.  This scoring method is generally thought to be more accurate than the Butler method as all the results are used.  Your score is IMPed against all the other scores on the board and the average swing calculated.  Scores tend to be 10% smaller than by using the Butler method and will have non-integer values.  The bidding/play tactics you have used for Butler Pairs are entirely appropriate for Cross-IMP scoring.


Club Individual Championship for the Roy Cradock Bowl:  Held on the first Tuesday and fourth Wednesday of most months from May 2014 to April 2015. The winner is the player with the best six percentage scores with six different partners.

 
Club Teams of Four League for the Collis Plate:  Held on the third Tuesday of each month (fourth Tuesday in January) from September 2014 to April 2015.  The winners are the team with the 5 best scores. Teams may have a maximum of  6 nominated players who may play for only one team during the year.
 
Summer Pairs Ladder for the Abdelmoneim Trophy:  Duplicate Pairs held most Tuesdays and Wednesdays during May, June, July and August. The Trophy is awarded to the pair with the best 5 scores with the same partner (Cradock Bowl and Butler Pairs heats & Simultaneous Pairs excluded).
 
Club Pairs Championship: Played over two sessions, Tuesday 16th and 23rd February 2016

Club Mixed Pairs Championship for the Thomas Kirkby Trophy:
One session, Tuesday 24th February 2015.

Club Teams of Four Championship for the Marie Johnson Trophy:  
One session, Wednesday 5th March 2014

May Pamplin Handicap Teams: One session, Tuesday 22nd October 2013.

Swiss Pairs for the Wraight Cup:  
Played over two sessions on Wednesday 11th and 18th October 2016.
Places need to be booked.

Equinox Handicap Plate: This event takes place twice a year close to the spring and autumn Equinoxes. Pairs will be given combined handicaps based on the average of all their scores at duplicate pairs in the previous 6 months (Scaled if less than 6). Sessions will take place on Wednesday 23rd September 2015 and Tuesday 22nd March 2016.
 

IMPORTANT NOTES :

 

(i)   Only Club members are eligible for trophies and/or prizes in the ten named events.

(ii)  Only members of Cambs & Hunts CBA may qualify for the County Individual final;non-members may play in the heat without standing. 

(iii) All players in the County Pairs heat must be members of Cambs & Hunts Contract Bridge Association; they may take part in heats at any club but must declare in advance their first choice.  Only this result will qualify.

(iv)  To be a member of Cambs & Hunts CBA, a player must have declared it as his/ her county of primary allegiance or, if another county is their primary one, have paid the appropriate fee (£3) for associate membership of C & H.  This payment should be made to Penny Riley, C & H membership Secretary.

(v)  All players in the National Pairs Heat do not have to be EBU members to play, but need to join the EBU for the final. Players become members of the EBU once they have played in one ‘Pay to Play’ governed event at an affiliated club.

(vi)  Members interested in playing in any of the Inter-Club teams events i.e. Cambs & Hunts League (teams of four), NICKO (teams of 4 National) or Garden Cities (teams of 8, within County) should inform the Club Captain, Julian Wightwick.
