Cairngorm Bridge Club
Committee Meeting minutes 6/5/2014
Present: Pam Roxburgh, Adelaide MacPherson, Duncan Stewart, Trish Davies, Aileen Burrow, Ian Hogarth, Richard Langridge.
- Hall
The problem of the size and noisiness of the hall was discussed. Clearly seven tables is full capacity and if we grow any more the Episcopal Church Hall will become even less suitable. Various alternatives were discussed, and it was decided that after a little more research a schedule would be presented to the members for discussion. It seems likely that all alternatives will have their drawbacks, so it will come down to choosing the most acceptable. It will need to be put to the members at either a Special General Meeting, or the AGM.
Alternatives to look at include:- Youth Hostel, Aviemore Church hall, International Starters. More suggestions would be welcomed.
2. Progression and TD
The use of various progressions was discussed; the Howell progression used last week had involved a great deal of moving about, and that as number of members are limited in their mobility we should for the next two or three weeks use a Mitchell.
The use of a bell to help the TD attract attention without shouting was ratified.
When a mistake is made at a table during play, the TD should the informed straightaway, as rectifying the situation later is more difficult.
When there is an error in inputting data to the travelling transmitter this can be corrected until the following week unless it is part of a wider competition..
3. Secretary's responsibilities
Agreed as follows:-.
Ian Hogarth will take responsibility for dealing with the paperwork and communications regarding competitions and reporting of results.
Trish Davies will continue to look after the dealing system and coping with the electronic deal files.
Rod Brown will continue to look after the programme and TD schedule.
Duncan Stewart will look after minutes and other communications. DS to check that the Member’s application form is appropriate. (DS 19/5 this has been done)
4. AOCB
Travelling Expenses
When the members travel to competitions elsewhere for the Club, it is appropriate that the driver receives some compensation for the cost of the trip. It was agreed that the passengers should contribute appropriately, and a suggested amount for most trips would be £3 each. This should be made clear at the time of announcing the competition arrangements, as otherwise both driver and passengers could the embarrassed to bring it up.
NEXT meeting will be held on the last Tuesday in August, the 25th.
