North has an easy opening bid. South knows her side belongs in game however she can't bid the spade game yet. A jump to 4 ♠ show a hand very different than the one she holds. So she makes a temporary bid of 2 ♣. North's spade rebid does not promise six spades. South bids the game at her next turn.

The defense starts with three heart tricks however declarer ruffs the third heart. She can draw trump in three rounds and must find a tenth trick to make her contract.

She can try the diamond finesse or she can work on clubs. The latter gives her the better chance to make her game. IF clubs split 3 - 3 or East has four clubs to the queen the suit will provide an extra trick. If neither of these chances comes to pass declarer can always fall back on the diamond finesse.

So after drawing trump declarer should play the ♣ A, ♣ K and lead a club toward dummy. On this layout she makes her tenth trick without having to resort to the diamond finesse.
