Next Committee Meeting

AGM, Thursday 18th April, 7.15pm

Welcome to Buchanan Bridge Club

The Buchanan has been the home of bridge in Glasgow since 1932.
The club is in a 19th century listed building and yet has all the benefits of technology with computer-dealt boards, Bridgemates on all tables, etc.  Up to thirty-two tables in play can be accommodated over the three floors of the building.
The Buchanan Bridge Club is a fully licensed club with a bar.

Bridge Classes

The Buchanan offers tuition at five levels -

  • Beginners
  • Intermediate 1
  • Intermediate 2
  • Refreshers
  • Advanced

Bridge is enjoyable at all levels - for beginners and experts alike. It's mentally stimulating and for many an activity for life.

The classes run on Thursday evenings at 7.00pm and last about three hours. All current courses started in September 2018 but you can still join. The new session will start on 5th September 2019. For full information including costs see Classes in the menu.

Come along to the club about 6.45pm on a Thursday and meet the teachers. You can download an application form here (either for Beginners/Intermediate 1/Intermediate 2 or Refreshers/Advanced).

Saturday Tournaments
The next Saturday afternoon tournament will be on 20th April 2019. Play will start at 1.30pm.

The next Saturday evening tournament will be on 6th April 2019 at 7.00pm.

Both are open events and all bridge players are welcome to attend. There is no need for visitors to sign in.
There is no standby but any member looking for a partner should use the Find a Partner facility.

Laws of Duplicate Bridge 2017

The 2017 Laws of Duplicate Bridge are available for download here. A side-by-side comparison of the 2007 and 2017 Laws can be viewed here.

Visitors to the Buchanan

Visitors to the club are very welcome, and our stand-by system means that they are guaranteed a game even if they do not come with a partner (not Saturdays). Visitors must be signed in by a member, but this does not have to be arranged in advance - just turn up on the night and a member will sign you in. Visitors may be signed in a total of six times in any club year before they are expected to join.

You may also apply for a ten week temporary membership that allows access to the cardrooms on the club nights. Use the Contact Us page to request information.
