2018 AGM is at 18:30 on 28th August. Please ensure at least one of a partnership arrives ten minutes before the start of a session so that we can set the movement up. If you do have to park in the road please do not block any driveways.
See the lessons page for local teachers.
Do you want to play bridge in Bromley in a friendly relaxed atmosphere? We are a duplicate bridge club based in the Parklangley Club in Wickham Way, Beckenham - located in Bromley, Kent, between West Wickham and Beckenham and on the hail and ride section of the 352 bus route. We play on a Tuesday afternoon and evening using Bridgemates and pre-dealt hands. Visitors are always welcome but members will take priority if there is insufficient room (see below). For more details and contact information click here.
If too many players turn up some will not be able to play. Preference will be given in the following order to:
Prompt arrival helps the Duty Officer choose the most suitable movement and a prompt start increases the chance of finishing that movement. Please try to arrange for at least one member of the partnership to arrive and sit at a table ten minutes before the starting time. If you know you are playing and that you may be later than that please inform the duty officer in advance. If you arrive at the last minute and the movement has already been set you may not be able to play unless you are preventing a sit out.
Playing at a reasonable speed also helps make everyone's game more enjoyable. Please see the guidance.
Please also try to keep noise to a minimum - once you have greeted your new opponents
Briter Bridge 2 is not affiliated to the EBU but we try to abide by their guidance on laws and behaviour. Additionally we have some guidance on the speed of playing and a link to the rules on announcing.
The original Briter Bridge Club was named after its founders Briony and Terry Weedman, starting out at the HSBC Sports and Social Club in Beckenham then relocating to the Parklangley Club.
The new club is run by a co-operative of members and launched on 01 August 2012.
Following the 2014 AGM we purchased an electronic scoring system and a dealing machine.
We held our 6th AGM in September 2017.
The AGM will be at 18:30 on 28th August. Steve is standing down as membership secretary so volunteers to take his place required. More information will be available shortly. Meanwhile please send nominations for Committee, items for the agenda and apologies to Janet.
Do our older members think that playing bridge and belonging to a club helps them face the challenges of advancing years? If you have views on this, or other aspects of the silver years, you may be interested in the Ageing Well project being carried out by the Borough of Bromley and NHS Bromley. There is a public meeting on 24th August. Click here for more information or to take part in the survey click here.
