| Themed Hands |
You know the basics of the game. But there seem to be too many things to think about at once.
The laws of bridge require random hands which are nowadays invariably produced by computer (it turns out that manual shuffling doesn't usually achieve randomness). But random hands are poorly suited for teaching as there are too many partial messages and in the real world luck will add to the confusion.
The Improvers' sessions use themed hands so you can practice varied aspects of the game. The course alternates sets of hands themed around bidding and sets of hands themed around play, whether as declarer or as a defender but every bidding hand needs to be played and every play hand must be bid.
The selected topics are shown in the calendar for Wednesday evenings and Thursday lunchtimes. Students can attend either or both sessions. Your subscription includes the table money for Second Wednesday sessions.
