For duplicate events players must ensure that they are seated at least 5 minutes before the designated start time in order that the director can establish the movement and set up the tables. Pairs arriving later than this may be excluded from play.
Welcome to the web pages for the Bridge Section at Bramhall Golf Club.
Many golfers are also keen bridge players, but you don't need to play golf to enjoy a relaxed and friendly game of bridge at the club, as as non-golfing members have full access to the bridge section and club facilities.
Various duplicate bridge sessions are held throughout the week and organised rubber bridge is played once a month.
From early autumn to spring, weekly beginners' tuition is available for those wishing to take up or return to bridge, and improvers' tuition for those keen to take their game to a higher level.

It is intended that the bridge section will commence its competitive winter season on 3rd September, with the continuation of Monday morning duplicate sessions. Monday 10th September will see the return of afternoon sessions of friendly duplicate bridge for ladies, where all standards are welcome. Hopefully by then a sufficient number of players will be itching to get back to the bridge table to make these sessions interesting. For further details please see the website Information page or contact Bill Hirst for the morning sessions and Mary Greer or Avril Hill for the afternoon sessions.
The winter season of the Wednesday Pairs Competition will begin on Wednesday 19th September. See the Information page or contact Roew Macdonald for further details.

A successful and enjoyable Teams of Four competition competition was held on 19th December with Roew and David magically able to calculate a result after partaking of the mulled wine.
Congratulations to the winning team of Pat, Wendy, Frances and Graham who played brilliantly, and to the team of Denise, Gill, Ann and Sheila who snaffled second place in spite of claiming that they performed poorly.
A worthy mention to our two newer members of the group, Claire and Maria, whose performance in respect of bidding, card play and pace of play resulted in most of their boards yielding only small swings.
Thanks must go to Roew and David for organising the event and providing detailed information at the tables to ensure the evening ran smoothly.
Congratulations to the prize winners at the Ladies' Invitation Bridge Drive held on Tuesday 6th November.
Well done to the prize winners at the latest Ladies' Bridge Drive held on Tuesday 4th December.

Ladies should note that the next Lady Members' Bridge Drive is on Tuesday 19th February at 1pm.
For those gentlemen not able, for one reason or another, to participate in the golf on President’s Weekend, the President very thoughtfully laid on an afternoon of bridge, and what a very pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon whilst golfers were battling against wind and rain on the course.
A keenly fought competition between four teams of four resulted, rather convincingly, in the honours and wine going to the team of David Joyce, Geoff Humberstone, Ray Williams and Peter Spiller.
Thanks must go to the President for making it happen and for her generous hospitality. Also thanks to Gil Fletcher for his organisational abilities in making the mysteries of the set up and movement run smoothly, and for his efforts in producing an analysis of each hand and a mind blowing scoring matrix.
On Wednesday 25th April the scratch and handicap trophies were awarded for the winter season 2017/18, past Lady Captain Frances Gell doing the honours. The final positions are shown below.

The most games played was a commendable 16 out of 19 by Janet & Don Ballard and the highest single percentage win was an amazing 72.78% by Gill Gartside & Denise Morton.
