Welcome to the Bradshaw Bridge Club web site

The Bradshaw Bridge Club is a very friendly bridge club that meets on most Tuesday evenings and most Wednesday afternoons for duplicate pairs bridge, though very occasionally we play teams.

We meet at the Maiden Place Community Centre, Lower Earley, Reading, RG6 3HE on:

Tuesday evenings:         7.15 p.m. for 7.30 until 10.30 p.m.
Wednesday afternoons:  1.15 p.m. for 1.30 until 4.30 p.m.

The club uses Bridgemates and so the movement is fixed at 1.20 pm and 7.20 pm respectively. Directors will normally not allow players to take part if both members of the pair are not seated by 1.20 pm or 7.20 pm.

With exceptions made for people with special needs - seating positions and tables are allocated randomly by drawing a card on arrival.

Bridge playing visitors are welcome (but there is no host system) and membership of the club is available.

Visitors: please note that if we reach our maxium table capacity members have priority.

The Club is affiliated to the English Bridge Union. EBU Masterpoints are awarded at most Club evenings and will be credited directly, approximately every four weeks.

The Club is also a member of the Berks & Bucks Contract Bridge Association. We enter 2 teams into the Berks & Bucks League of 8, and a team of 4 in the Bracknell league.

Best Behaviour at Bridge - BB@B
Bradshaws is a friendly club that expects courteous, good manners from all so that the enjoyable game of bridge is actually enjoyed by everyone.

Club members can visit the EBU web site for information on all laws and ethics but the Bradshaw Committee wish to provide members with easy access to the EBU BB@B document and to the Bradshaw compliance with EBU BB@B.

As such, links to PDF copies of these documents are given below.

The EBU has produced a guide to Announcing and Alerting and a link to this can be found on the Information item on the left hand side of the club web page. This item also includes a some advice and guidence produced by the Bradshaw Committee on System Cards and Announcing and Alerting.

An integral part of EBU BB@B is that players should make their convention/system card (SC) readily available to their opponents and to have it filled in completely. To assist members in preparing their own SC, there is a link to a basic SC on the club web site. Just click on the Information item on the left hand side of the club web page and then click on Basic System Convention Card and follow the instructions to print or save.  Alternatively, the EBU web site provides many different SC formats that can be printed or downloaded.  Any Club member requiring assistance in this matter should contact a Committee member.

Browser Refresh

From time to time, the administrator of the Bradshaw Web Site makes updates to the site and on a few occasions, these updates mean that people trying to access the site might not see the latest update.

To get round this problem, it is necessary to refresh the page. Microsoft Windows users should press the F5 button on their keyboard. Mac users should press CMD+R.

Would players who know that they are going to be inadvertently delayed in their journey to the club, please telephone their partner to advise them of the situation.
