BICKERLEY - THE RINGWOOD BRIDGE CLUB
Hand of Week Archive
4th December - Hand 26
A definite slam hand which only one pair bid.  One pair however made 4S doubled and redoubled with 3 overtricks 2,280 points. That's Bridge!!! - FHC
10th October 2013 - Hand 11
Last week it was the bidding, this week it's the play!  All but one pair reached a NT contract played by East but only one pair made it.  You have to count the cards played.
26th September - hand 7
A very difficult hand to bid - well done to those pairs who reached 4H.  A slam is possible if you play very carefully - try it.  FHC
1st February 2013 - Board 6
This is a " Fortune favours the Brave" hand.  50% of the hands were played in Hearts by E/W - most in 4H some in 5H.  The rest were played in Spades by N/S nobody in 5S although that should be the final contract - particularly as N/S are not vulnerable.
6th Decamber 2012 - Hand 9
A hand that shows good controlled bidding by East.  Benji is a good way to get to 2NT.  Every other contract goes well off.  How did you do?
29th November - Hand 17
A great hand for aggressive bidding in both defence and to play.  The club split 50/50 in bidding and making a 4S contract and going off in 5C. Well done to those Norths who bid to 5C but 5S is still makeable by West.  How would you have done?.
15th November 2011 - Hand 6
Why did all E/W get to game but none of them bid to slam - 12 tricks is a lay down, 13 is possible.  How would you have done?  The bidding is theoretical assuming you use BENJI  AND RKCB.
1st November 2012 - Hand 9
A real problem hand for everyone.  3 East bid 1NT and were left in it; 2 made it with over tricks - opponents not finding hearts and 1 went down. 2 South bid hearts both making 8 tricks. 1 West bid 4 clubs and made 11 tricks and 2 East bid spades of which only 1 bid and made game.  How would/or did you do.
27th October 2012 - Hand 24
Cover up N/S hands and play 6 NT or cover up E/W hands and defend as South against 6NT - both on a small spade lead from N.  Only one pair bid 6NT and they made it.  How would you proceed?
New......
3rd January 2013 - Hand 15
Every E/W pair in the club reached a 3NT contract.  With 7 top tricks it all depends on North's lead.  A diamond lead sets up the contract.  How would you, as West, deal with a low spade lead?
