15th September 2008

Dear Club Representative

A new era is beginning for all EBU clubs and their members on 17th September 2008.  This is the day that our EBU Club Committee will have its first meeting.  The committee’s responsibilities will be to:

·         ensure that there is an effective regional representation structure for clubs

·         consult with and represent the interests of the clubs in their region

·         ascertain what types of services and products our clubs want from the EBU

·         help the EBU meet the needs of clubs  in all aspects of their activities

The members of the club committee are:

·         Margaret Eddleston – ( Hertfordshire)

·         Tom Garrett – ( Berks and Bucks)

·         Suzanne Gill – (Norfolk)

·         Phil Green – (Wiltshire)

·         Barbara Herold – ( Sussex)

·         Terry Jacobs – (Yorkshire)

·         Lesley Millet – (Yorkshire)

They will be joining Graham Jepson, the committee’s Chairman, Barry Capal, the EBU’s General Manager and Krys Kazmierczak our Club Liaison Officer.  There are more details about your committee and its members in the September issue of Club Bulletin which is now available on our website www.ebu.co.uk.  Your Club Committee representative will be making themselves known to you in the very near future, however, if you would like to contact your representative about a specific matter please contact Krys at cc@ebu.co.uk or at the EBU as indicated above, giving the name, address and county of affiliation of your club.

During the past few months, many of our clubs have raised questions about universal membership via Pay to Play.  We have attached a simple sheet which addresses those issues that come up frequently in our correspondence and meetings with clubs.  We hope that it provides the answers that you need to help you and your fellow club members make informed decisions about the future of your club and its affiliation to the EBU.  We would be grateful if you could distribute it as widely as possible and put a copy on your club notice board.

And finally, we do hope we have the correct contact details for the member responsible for communication in your club.  If these need to be updated, please inform us by emailing karend@ebu.co.uk or contacting her at Aylesbury.

Yours faithfully

Sally Bugden

Vice Chairman
