The Farewell bridge party for our Aix visitors was a great success.  Two sections were played; one for our beginners and one for our more experienced players and invited guests/ visitors.
The winners in the open section (pictured) are: Mireille and Jean Francois Dany, and John Crookes and Nigel Cockburn with an eye-watering +74imps.
The winners in the beginners section are Teresa Steele, Jenny John, Gill Velleman and Pam Maybury with +12imps.   Well done to everyone and especially those who undertook to explain imps scoring to our visitors.

Our Monday afternoon Christmas Tea was a great success and we played an Individual Movement.  It was a little confusing at first but we all worked it out after a couple of rounds.  Here are our six top winners, with Richard Hill coming in at first place.

We had a wonderful weekend in Bournemouth at the Heathlands Hotel.  The food was excellent, the hotel staff looked after us really well and some great bridge was played by all.  We even had good weather!  Our new students were introduced to teams play; I am sure we will return in the future.

Our end of year party was held on 7th July 2010.  Our visitors from Aix en Provence and guests from other Bath bridge clubs came to help make this a very festive event.  The buffet was most impressive; many thanks to everyone who contributed towards the refreshments.  A special thank you to everyone who helped lay out the buffet and took care of the boules.

We had 17 tables playing bridge and despite the hot weather, the Pimm's helped cool us all down.  The winners in the Green Section were: Mireille Dany/ Andrew Clark, and Jean Pierre Turquet/ Jean Francoise Dany.  In the Blue Section, our winners were: Maggie Neill/ Sylvia Brown, and Pat and Frank Bell.

We had 14 teams participating in our end of year Summer Reception.  A wonderful selection of nibbles and drinks was provided by our students.  Thank you to everyone for helping make this such a special event.

Our Summer Reception was held on 1st July and we played a mixed teams game followed by a wonderful selection of drinks and canapes; thank you to everyone for helping to make this a very special event.  For the teams game we had 14 teams participating which were split into two sections: Yellow and Red.  Our winners are:

Red Section:
Marie Buggy, Freda Newcombe, Celia Porter and Richard Hill.

Yellow Section:
Jeannie Pigott, David Pigott, Ann Brett and Jane Stockall.

Our students have returned from The Really Easy Summer Congress at Brighton.  We were there for three days and some great bridge was played.  Our brave Year One students played from Monday to Wednesday and competed in their first Swiss Pairs; our Improvers played Tuesday to Thursday, and Christine and Margaret played in the midnight 'Speedball'.  We are looking forward to next year's congress already.

14 pairs of our fearless students participated in the EBU Student Minibridge Simultaneous Pairs in November 2010.  The current rankings out of the 114 pairs who have played so far are: John Travers and Frances Hardman in 3rd position.  Ann Brett and Paul Fox (pictured) came top in the Wednesday evening session.  Congratulations to all who competed.
