Swiss Teams Event - Batcombe

Congratulations to our four teams of brave students who survived 6 rounds of Swiss Teams on 22nd Nov and lived to tell the tale.  Some have said 'never again!' but others are waiting for the next exciting bridge event to come their way.  The published results list only the top teams of the 23 that entered so we do not know quite where we ended up.  Click here to see the winning teams and their final scores.

Bath and Aix-en-Provence Bridge Exchange
Bath and Aix-en-Provence Bridge Exchange

Fifteen bridge players from Bath paid a visit to their twin city - Aix-en-Provence - from 8th to 11th July 2009.  This is the second time Bath has been so warmly received by Aix and a wonderful time was had by all.  We played at three different bridge clubs and received a welcoming reception at each venue.  A special visit was arranged by the Aix twinning society for us to visit Picasso's castle which was opened for this summer only; a very special treat for us all.  Next summer, we will invite a party of Aix bridge players to come and visit us and we will try to repay their kind hospitality.  This picture is of Stewart and Christine, with their host and hostess - Michel and Michelle Garcon.  The date for the return visit to Bath has now been set for 6th to 10th July 2010.  We will be hosting a session with the French players during that week.

Really Easy Summer Congress - Brighton 2009
Really Easy Summer Congress - Brighton 2009

Our students have returned, exhausted but wiser, having survived three days of playing bridge in the Really Easy Congress at Brighton.  They learned some new conventions, played many hands, met lots of other enthusiastic bridge players, and a good time was had by all.  Our dedicated students even shunned the hottest day of the year to sit inside and play bridge when they could have been sitting in deck chairs beside the sea!

This year's summer congress will be August 9th to 11th, 2010, at Brighton.
