Banbury finish top of Wessex League Division 2
Banbury finish top of Wessex League Division 2

Banbury finshed the season by defeating Wantage A 16-4

This means that Banbury had a played seven - won seven record; you can't do better than that! Congratulations to the fifteen players who played in the course of the season.

Interesting hands

Sometimes you need a little bit of luck; today's hand illustrates this.

Keep those hands coming Folks!

Banbury Win Ban Bic Cup
Banbury Win Ban Bic Cup

Banbury has won the Ban Bic Cup, their top three pairs scoring 241 MP (55.8%) compared to Bicester's 215 MP (49.8%).

Interestingly, had the average of all pairs playing been taken., Banbury would still have won, but only by the narrowest possible margin (50.1% to 49.8%)

Nobody in Banbury Won!

In the Oxfordshire Newsletter, there was a reference to a prize of a lunch at a pub in banbury, yet noone entered. See http://www.oxfordshirebridge.co.uk/newsletters/2011-12update.pdf

North led C8, the CJ winning in dummy.

Declarer finessed DQ, losing to North’s King

North returned a spade to South’s K

Club ruff

Spade (a heart results in a 3-trick defeat)

Should North have switched to a heart, or should South have played the SA on the first round to virtually force North into a heart switch ?
