| WELCOME TO THE AYLSHAM & DISTRICT BRIDGE CLUB WEBSITE |
The embryonic Aylsham & District Bridge Club began to form in January 1981 when a small group of about a dozen people decided to try a then new form of bridge, namely “Duplicate Bridge”. This small group met in a room above the Black Boys Hotel, Aylsham and began their first steps on the road to what has now become the Club it is today.
As increasing numbers of people wished to join the original group, space became rather cramped in the Black Boys Hotel and thus the Club moved across the market place to the Town Hall in January 1986. Later that year, on 13th June 1986, The Aylsham and District Bridge Club was officially formed by Ann & David Melville, where Duplicate Bridge continued to be played until March 2012 when the Club moved to its present venue, the ACT Centre in the St. Michael's Care Complex, Aylsham (see photo above).
Affliations: English Bridge Union and the Norfolk Contract Bridge Association.
The Club meets on Friday evenings at the ACT Centre, Aylsham at 6:45 pm for a 7:00 pm start. Visitors Welcome.
Refer to "Where & When" under the "Information" heading in the menu for further details.
(A full description of "The History of Aylsham & District Bridge Club" can be found on the News Pages of this website, where you will find many names from the first membership booklet that will be familiar to existing club members}.
