The director was called to an Opening lead out of turn and the member was supprised with the options available.  To see all options and penalties click  Opening lead and lead out of turn.

If you do come up against officious opponents who get uppity and generally make you feel uncomfortable, get your own back. Tell them they are in contravention of Law 74A which requires all players to "maintain a courteous attitude at all times" and "avoid any remark or action that might cause annoyance or embarrassment to another player or might interfere with the enjoyment of the game". It's a game, for heaven's sake. Enjoy it!

  Two Important Questions on Bidding

Bridge Players 'tapping the table' when they bid or 'making a comment'.

Can the bidder draw the attention of his partner by tapping the table or saying 'that's strong or that's a transfer etc'?

Definitely Not.  This is giving unauthorised information to your partner.

If this happens at your table, please call the director for a ruling.

When should a responder announce or alert?

Bridge Stories - Bid Stayman with Weak Hand

In the last issue for the EBU members magazine there is an article by Andrew Robson 'Bid Stayman with Many Weak Hands' Click this box to see this article.

At Teams this week, my partner bid 1 NT (12 - 14 HCP balanced hand and could contain a 5 card major).  I had a 2434 hand with 5 points, and my partner was Doubled, what should I do?  Yes I had just read this article so I bid 2 Clubs (Stayman), my partner responded 2 Hearts and made 8 tricks, 110 points to us.

The other team stayed in 1NT and went down 3, another 300 points to us.

A good result thanks to Andrew Robson's advice.
