The choir was founded in 1921 and since that date (apart from the war years) has kept alive a continuous tradition of study and performance of a wide range of choral works, from the Renaissance period to the present day.
Our conductor is Tec Fawcett, and we are affiliated to ‘Making Music’ (the National Federation of Music Societies). Abbots Langley Singers is a registered charity.
We perform three concerts a year, one at the end of each “school term”. The concert in Early December includes seasonal music and is performed in St Lawrence church. On alternate years, the Summer concert, (usually including a light buffet supper), includes popular songs and songs from the shows and is performed in the Henderson Hall. On the following summer (2010) a major choral work is performed as part of the ALFA festival. The Spring concert often includes a larger choral work and is performed in St Lawrence church.
We also provide our Choir for Hire service at weddings, christenings and funerals where no other choral support is available. Please contact us for further information at abbotslangleysingers@yahoo.co.uk
The beautiful church of St Lawrence is located at the end of the High Street at the junction with St Lawrence Close and the Henderson Hall is located in the centre of the High Street.
