Duplicate Bridge ... morning, noon and night!

Visitors and new members are always welcome. All clubs are EBU affiliated and operate a host system, so even if you do not have a partner one week, come along - we guarantee to provide you with a partner. Sessions are played in a friendly, competitive atmosphere where all players are welcome whatever their level of experience.

Henry Treadwell

It is with great sorrow that we hear of Henry's passing on Friday 10th March. Henry was a stalwart member of many bridge clubs in the area, not least our Shoreham club since its inauguration 8 years ago. He was a well known and much loved figure in the town and was always generous with his time. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humour and infectious laugh and will be sorely missed.

We have more recently heard that Henry's wife, Dodo had a heart attack and died on Friday 17th, just one week after losing Henry. Our thoughts and prayers continue for Mandy and the family at this extended and particularly difficult time.

There is to be a joint funeral on Tuesday 4th April at Worthing Crematorium commencing at 12.20, followed by a service at St Michael & All Angels Church, Church Lane, Southwick and then at the Adur Indoor Bowling Club.

Annual Members' Congress

Our 2017congress was set for
CANCELLED                      Wednesday 26th April                     CANCELLED

However, it is with much regret that we have decided to cancel the congress this year.

Most of you will know that I have been struck down with Bells Palsy.
The nature of the affliction is that my speech has been badly affected such that I am often difficult to understand. I am now more tired than usual as well and have less stamina with the result that it would be too stressful to prepare for and run the congress. Even though offers of help have been made, the additional stress of the event would be too great and would have a detrimental affect on my health and Kathy's worry and stress levels. With my impending knee replacement this summer, we feel that deferring the congress is not a viable alternative either.

Those of you who have already submitted entry forms will have their cheques destroyed (none have yet been presented) and those who have paid on line will receive full refunds.

Many apologies once again.

Give us ya money...

In case you hadn't spotted this anywhere, the non slippery, old £5 notes are being withdrawn and will cease to be legal currency from 5th May. Any old £5 notes will not be accepted in payment of table money or subscriptions on or after 23rd April (so that we have time to get them banked before 5th May). Until then, you can give us as many as you like!!!
