Duplicate Bridge ... morning, noon and night!

Visitors and new members are always welcome. All clubs are EBU affiliated and operate a host system, so even if you do not have a partner one week, come along - we guarantee to provide you with a partner. Sessions are played in a friendly, competitive atmosphere where all players are welcome whatever their level of experience.

EBU - sessions page updates
Some of you will have noticed that the results for some of our events have not been uploaded to the EBU sessions page. Firstly, within Adur Valley, the submissions are centralised for submission in an attempt to achieve accuracy and this can cause delays; secondly the EBU have "updated" the sessions file to "improve" it and make it "easier" for clubs to upload event files form Scorebridge. This attempt at "simplifying" the system has it "teething problems" and, in any event can be SLOWER than the ORIGINAL. At Adur Valley we have 4 sessions in 2 days and this appears to "confuse" the system. The second of the two session results to be upload "confuse" the system and it seems to take 24 hours to satisfy itself that this is not a duplicate of the first (comments about duplicate bridge are unhelpful at this stage!) or for me, the poor submissive person to check for myself.
Please be tolerant - the results will be there at some point...

All clubs Early Autumn Update
The weather is cooling down at last, so you’ll be pleased to know that the shorts may soon be replaced by trousers. It’s worth noting at this point, that there has been no suggestion by any member of the medical profession that there is any connection between my erratic quality of health and my wearing shorts of varying lengths for a protracted period!
Holidays, family commitments and extensive, numerous sporting events will, I’m sure, have occupied much of your time during the summer months. It’s been great to see so many of you sticking to your bridge and playing with us come what may and we thank you for that. We also owe a huge debt of thanks to Pete & Gwen, Don & Doreen, Brian & Luci and Roger for standing in and directing/hosting during our absences, many of which are outside our control. While we are far from indispensible (as the above named have proved) we are aware of our reduced presence at the clubs and are sorry that we have seen much less of you all than we used to. We hope that things will take a turn for the better and that our attendance levels will improve.
In a similar fashion, many of you will have noticed that our table numbers have fallen at all clubs to uncharacteristically low levels (at Steyning we’ve had to take drastic action which continues to be under review) and we’re hoping that we will see more of you in the coming months as the days shorten and the quality of television programing continues to deteriorate.
We look forward to a busy Autumn and have no doubt that if any of you have suggestions as to what might have changed or could change within the clubs you will let us know. It is unfortunate that all bridge clubs’ demographic falls in the so called ‘silver’ section of the population and we are all increasingly affected by our health. Bridge is supposed to encourage good health, so let’s hope we can all prove that supposition to be accurate!!
See you soon
Very best wishes
Kathy & Bob
