ADDINGTON BRIDGE CLUB
CONSTITUTION/RULES
TITLE: The Addington Bridge Club.
LOCATION: The Addington Cricket Club, The Pavilion, Park Road, Addington, West Malling, Kent, ME19 5BQ, for the time being or as may be designated by the Committee.
AIMS: To provide a venue for the playing of Duplicate Bridge under the ‘Acol’ System on Tuesday evening or as otherwise agreed.
MEMBERSHIP: Open to all Bridge players of whatsoever standard.
Every effort will be made to accommodate those players of a lower standard to ensure that each and every player enjoys attending the Club. A list of Members to be maintained in the Minute Book.
FEES: There is an annual subscription of £5.00 per annum, payable in October of each year. On each occasion that Members convene to play Bridge a subscription of £1.00 will be levied. The amount of this levy may be varied at the sole discretion of the Committee without prior notification to the Members.
EGM: A minimum of 40 per cent of the Members may call an Extraordinary General Meeting by giving written notice to the Committee and all Members of the Club.
AGM: The Annual General Meeting to be held not less than
12 and not more than 18 months from the anniversary of the date of the founding of the Club which is deemed to be the 1st March.
OFFICERS: The President, Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary to be elected at the Annual General Meeting by those Members attending the Meeting. Those Members unable to attend may make their wishes known in writing to the Secretary at that time.
COMMITTEE: The President, Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary to serve for a maximum of three years at which time they may offer themselves for re-election. The Committee for the time being may appoint, co-opt or invite as they see fit other Members to serve on the Committee in whatsoever function they deem fit to ensure the proper running and conduct of the Club. Such appointments may be for the remaining term of the serving Committee or for a lesser period as deemed to be required.
ORDINARY To be convened and held by the appointed Committee as deemed necessary.
MEETINGS:
Special General Meetings may be called by the Committee giving two weeks notice in writing to every Member.
QUORUM: For an AGM, EGM or SGM a minimum of 50 per cent of the Members must attend. For an ordinary meeting at least three of the Officers must be present.
VOTING: In the event of a ‘tied’ vote at any meeting the Chairman or the President in the event that the Chairman is not present shall have the casting vote. New Members may only vote at the end of one month’s membership.
CLUB FUNDS: The Treasurer, or his nominee in the event that he is unable to attend, to collect the playing subscriptions. He is to meet the expenses incurred in running the Club and to keep a proper written record of all receipts and expenditure.
ASSETS: In the event that the Club he disbanded or wound-up the Treasurer shall dispose of the paraphernalia comprising, card tables, playing cards, bidding boxes etc., which is the sole property of the Club, at best market price. The proceeds to be added to the funds in hand and once all the debts of the Club have been discharged, in the event of a Surplus this sum to be equally divided among the Members. Should the distribution result in a figure of less than £1.00 per Member the entire sum to be donated to a Charity decided upon by the Committee.
ACCOUNTS: The Treasurer to provide written Accounts to the Annual General Meeting and to provide the Members with a Budget for the forthcoming year to enable a review of the weekly subscriptions and potential expenditure to take place.
ACQUISITIONS: The Committee is empowered to acquire all and any aids for the use of the Club to enable the fulfilment of the aims of the Club.
RULES: The Rules and Regulations relating to the playing of Bridge in the Club are laid out in the Minute Book and will be adhered to at all times. The Committee will have the sole right to ask a Member to leave the Club in the event that one or more Rule/Regulation has been infringed.
Each Member will be given a copy of the Rules and Regulations.
