Unit 146 Board Meeting

         March 11, 2015

President Brian Boyce called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. at The Bridge Center.   There were 15 board members present.  Absent were Nancy Cook, Lilley Holley, Stephanie Mcleod, Joe Olivier and Shary Schain.

Brian stated the trial time for the new website was running out.  The old website contract expires soon.  The new is $149/year.  Price of app is $299.   Motion made and approved to go with new website.

The Marriott Waterside has been selected for location of our next Regional at $107 room rate.   Discussed 2018 possibilities as Marriott, Hilton, and Cavalier.

Minutes of January 14, 2015 were approved.

Jim Vroom presented the Treasurer’s Report showing $14,936.51 in the checking account and $41,148.44 in money market account for a total net of $56,084.95.

Jim opened discussion on monies on hand and opportunities to wisely use some of it.  Jay Wisenauer suggested spending on Education; Carolyn is going to teach class at the Y; Jay to look into Virginia Beach Schools.  Other suggestions were to lower costs to members to play; free plays to directors, etc.  Anne Myers motioned to table the matter to another date reference any money to be spent. Approved.

Tournaments – decision had been made to discontinue asking members to bring in homemade foods and for the Unit to provide bagels, doughnuts, etc.

Sunshine – Peggy Willett says no report but will be sending cards as needed.

Financial – Jim Vroom stated $890.00 increase, bringing Bridge Center funds to $47,612.

Mentoring – Jay Wisenauer says not going well.  Peggy was only one to do it.

Adult Education – no report.

Youth Education – Brian will put information regarding Education and Mentoring availabilities on the website.

Silver Aces – Peggy Willett had nothing to report.

Echo – Deadline for information to Peter Haglich is May 15, 2015.

 Repairs – Jay will get an estimate for repair to toilets (seals).
