| Abingdon cafe bridge results |
We held our first cafe bridge event on Wednesday 9th September. The event was a huge success; 40 pairs turned up from far and wide, everything went smoothly and the food at each of the five venues was delicious. Best of all, the event raised £600 for the Sick Children's Trust. Please click here for the results. Congratulations to our winners, thanks to everyone who came and, most of all, many thanks to Kevin and Ruth for all their hard work and good cheer which made the event so excellent.

| Malcolm Simpson |
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Malcolm Simpson from pnuemonia. Malcolm passed away in hospital on the evening of Thursday 6th November. He was one of the early members of Abingdon Duplicate Bridge Club, serving on the committee in various roles and representing the club at every level in the Oxfordshire Wessex League. He was made a life member in recognition of his contribution to the club over many years. Malcolm also enjoyed teaching and taught several of the current Abingdon members; he was also a member at several other local clubs, including Wallingford and Wantage. Malcolm was a kind and gentle man who was also a fine bridge player. Our thoughts go out to his wife Rose and the rest of the family at this difficult time.
Please click here for a personal tribute to Malcolm from his long-standing partner, Clive Keep.
