The club's 'Learn & Play' session on Wednesday evenings starts at 7.00 pm prompt until about 10.00 pm, and is run by Celia Jeal (EBU Qualified Bridge Teacher) and John Bloomfield.
It is aimed at players who have completed a Beginning Bridge course, but is also suitable for people who have been playing bridge socially for some years and feel in need of a refresher course.
It usually consists of supervised play, duplicate style. There are occasional tutorial sessions with about half an hour’s tuition on a particular topic, followed by a gentle, friendly duplicate bridge session, in which at least some of the hands are based on the topic covered.
The bidding system used is Standard English Acol. Celia and John are available throughout the duplicate to help with questions on bidding and play. You can come with or without a partner, and can come as a guest up to three times to see if you like it before committing yourself to joining. Table Money is £1.50 (£2.50 for guests).
For more information on the Learn and Play Club, and also on courses for beginners, please contact Celia or John (see details below).
