Armand Di Giacomo
d. November 4, 2003

Armand Di Giacomo, 74, of Wilmington, DE died November 4th at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore. Armand was research chemist with DuPont for 37 years as a polymer scientist. Armand earned his Doctorate from Princeton University, where he also met his wife, Virginia. In his later years, Armand became an avid duplicate bridge player earning the designation of Silver Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League. He served the bridge community of Delaware as an officer of the Delaware State Bridge Association for 6 years and as editor of our quarterly newsletter, The Dummy, for 12 years. In 1983 Armand served as the 30th President of the Delaware State Bridge Association.

Armand also played the violin professionally. Armand is survived by Virginia; his 4 sons, Robert, Stephen, Joseph, and Ronald; their wives, Kimberly, Blanca, Sandra and Lisa; as well as 12 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Friday morning, November 7, at 11 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Liftwood. Burial will be private. Friends called at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington on Thursday November 6th from 7-9 pm. Friends also called at the Church on Friday morning from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ministry of Caring, 917 North Madison Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

The Delaware State Bridge Association will hold a charity club game in Armand's memory early next year at a date to be announced. All proceeds were donated to the Ministry of Caring. We look forward to joining together to celebrate his life at that time.
