CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION

The Club Championship consists of a Teams and a Pairs event, both events having Open and Restricted Tiers.

A player who represents one club in one of these events may not play for another club in the other event.

There is no limit on the number of teams and pairs which a club may enter in both Open and Restricted Tiers.

In the Restricted Tier all players must have an EBU rank less than National Master on 1st July 2018.

Also players who have played in the ÔAÕ divisions of the County League or Pairs League for at least two seasons must not be selected for this tier.

Points are awarded as shown below and the club gaining the most points will be the 2018-19 Club Champions.

OPEN TIERS

Team points and Pairs place points: 1st 10,      2nd 6,     3rd 3

(A club can only gain points for their best performing team or pair, but if teams/pairs from the same club took more than one of the first three places it would prevent those place points being awarded to another club e.g. If Pairs of club X took first two places and a Pair of club Y were 3rd, club X is awarded 10 points and team Y 3 points).

RESTRICTED TIERS

Team points and Pairs place points: 1st 10,      2nd 6,     3rd 3

(A club can only gain position points for their best performing team/pair, but if teams/pairs from the same club took more than one of the first three places it would prevent those place points being awarded to another club).

This tier is stratified by NGS rank on the date of the event:

A stratum: NGS ranks Ace to K   Hope these players enter Open Tiers

            B stratum: NGS ranks Q to 10

            C stratum: NGS ranks 9 to 7

D stratum: NGS ranks 6 or less

This tier will be run in two sections of strata A and B and of strata C and D.

Teams/Pairs may consist of players with different NGS ranks, when the section in which they play may be determined by the Tournament Secretary.

Examples: a team with players in strata  CCCA plays as C, CCBA as B, CCAA as A

Pairs with players in strata AB plays as A, AC as B, BC as B, BD as C, AD as C etc

The top team/pair in each B, C and D stratum is awarded 5 points (but not if they gain more than 5 by winning or taking second place overall).
